Male Tiger in Bukit Tiga Puluh

Specially designed video cameras installed by WWF-Indonesia’s tiger researchers in the Sumatran jungle, between two protected areas– Rimbang Baling Wildlife Reserve in Riau and Bukit Tigapuluh National Park in both Riau and Jambi provinces, captured a male tiger sniffing the camera trap.
The discovery comes as WWF prepares to launch a Tiger campaign on 14 Feb. 2010, the start of the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese calendar. This Year of the Tiger could be the last opportunity to save this iconic species.

Year of Endangered Tiger 2010

2010 is an important year for tiger conservation, not only because it is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese calendar, which will be observed and celebrated around the world, but also because it is a year which an integrated campaign called "Year of Endangered Tiger 2010" will be launched globally within WWF Network on 14 February 2010. This Year of the Tiger could be the last opportunity to save this iconic species.
